Outline format
This year we have selected 42 teams with the usual mix of overseas, university, local and previous regular teams. The first 32 teams were chosen as we do every year. The additional ten teams were chosen using a number of factors. Examples were: a new team, an old team getting back together, youth team showing promise, previous winners or runners up.
We will have six flights of boats which allows for more time on the course, potentially giving longer races and more time pre-start. It is intended that each team will get 18 to 20 races before we get to the quarter finals.
