Boat sponsorship

The Wilson Trophy is proud of its reputation for supplying evenly-matched, modern, reliable, colour-coded boats and sails for the annual event.

These boats are owned and maintained by the club.  They are used during the rest of the year but only sparingly and only at quality events.

This unique fleet is a precious asset but is expensive.

Each boat costs £5,000 and each one forms a sponsor unit all on its own.  The sponsor’s name appears amidships in large letters on both sides of the hull.

But we don’t pretend normal commercial returns are not available on these boats.  We just cannot create the circumstances where an investment of £5,000 can produce that value from the exposure they get during the event even with several outings during other events throughout the year.

We are therefore looking for those who hold the Wilson Trophy, the West Kirby Sailing Club, team-racing as a sailing discipline and sailing in general in high esteem and wish them well enough to invest entirely altruistically or (semi-) commercially, knowing the return isn’t going to make complete financial sense.

We are encouraged with the numbers of people, companies and organisations who do see the sponsorship of our fleet in this way and allow us to produce a fleet that is literally the envy of the team-racing world.
