Leave the M6 at junction 20, then keep left to join the M56 motorway (signposted North Wales, Chester, Runcorn)

Leave the M56 at junction 15, then join the M53 motorway (signposted Ellesmere Port, Birkenhead) - NB Ignore the first M53 towards Chester.

Leave the M53 at junction 2.

At Roundabout go straight on and go into the right hand lane.

At Traffic Lights Turn Right

Go along this road entering Saughall Massie, once the shops and houses finish the road bends round to the left.

At Roundabout go straight across.

At the end of this road(after the primary school on your left), turn right and go up the hill.

At the top of the hill turn left, the immediately right.

Carry on down this road until you reach the Moby Dick Pub, turn right.

Go over the bridge and head for the water.

The road bends to the right, West Kirby Sailing Club is on the left. You will not be able to park in the club grounds during the event so it is suggested you continue on down Banks Road.

Take the first left, then left again on the promenade. Go along towards the sailing club boatyard and find a parking spot.

Walk the rest of the way!

By Air
Liverpool John Lennon Airport is only a 45min car journey from West Kirby, with flights arriving from Southampton, London City, Dublin and many others.

If travelling into London Heathrow you have a number of options available to you. You can rent a self drive minibus at the airport and drive to West Kirby, 4-5 Hours, or travel into London on the tube and get a train to Liverpool from London Euston station. This can be quite complicated, especially if you have a lot of luggage. A further option is to contact your travel agent and arrange for a flight from Heathrow to Manchester(45mins). There are no flights from London Heathrow to Liverpool John Lennon.

By Rail

Both Liverpool and Manchester airports have railway stations which can transport you direct to West Kirby Station (15min walk from the sailing club).

If travelling from Liverpool Airport, board the train at Liverpool South Parkway(opening June) and change at Liverpool Central, then change onto the Wirral Line and board the West Kirby Service.(Run at 15minute intervals)

If travelling from Manchester board the Liverpool Lime Street Service, on arriving at Liverpool Lime Street goto the lower level Wirral Line platform and board the West Kirby Service.

If you are travelling from another part of the UK by rail you need to get to Liverpool Lime Street then change onto the Wirral Line and board the West Kirby train.


By Boat

There are two major ferry terminals near to West Kirby, the nearest being the Twelve Quays terminal in Birkenhead.

To

P&O also offer a service into the River Mersey, http://www.poirishsea.com/ This service docks at Gladstone dock, part of Liverpool Freeport and is approx 40mins from West Kirby

 

To Holyhead

Stena Line http://www.stenaline.co.uk offers a HSS service from Dun Laoghaire which crosses in 90minutes on board the Stena Explorer. There is also a traditional ferry crossing from Dublin Port.

Irish Ferries http://www.irishferries.com/ cross from Dublin to Holyhead. The Jonathan Swift can do the crossing in just over 90minutes, while the worlds largerst car ferry Ulysses takes a tad longer (3hr 15mins).
